Saturday, August 21, 2010 is Australia’s Federal election for 2010. Prime Minister Julia Gillard called the 2010 Federal Election during a press conference at Parliament House last July 17, 2010. As of this writing, busy campaigns are underway for both Julia Gillard Labor government and the Opposition led by Tony Abbott who was elected Leader of the Liberal Party in December 2009.
Getting to know the position of government leaders, especially for the position of Australia’s Prime Minister, on controversial issues is really important for every Australian voters out there to be aware of before casting his/her vote on the political party who will lead Australia in the next term.
Here’s Tony Abbott’s position on homosexuality and gay marriage taken on ABC’s Q & A TV Show . He is quite frank and straight to say that he is against same-marriage.

TONY ABBOTT SHORT BIO
- became Leader of the Opposition on 1 December 2009.
- elected Member for Warringah at a by-election in March 1994.
- was Minister for Employment Services, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, and Minister for Health and Ageing in the Howard government at various times from 1998 to 2007
- was Executive Director of Australians for Constitutional Monarchy from 1993-94.
- press secretary and political advisor to the Leader of the Opposition, Dr John Hewson.
- previous career was in journalism
- A Rhodes Scholar, he holds a Bachelor of Law and Economics from the University of Sydney and a Masters of Politics and Philosophy from Oxford.
- Married to wife Margaret and they have three daughters.
