Sydneysiders, The Sydney Chinese New Year Festival is on! Bring your family, friends, and visitors to the Dragon Boat Races happening at the Sydney Darling Harbour. Watch one of the biggest competitive event in Australia’s dragon boat racing calendar. The Sydney Dragon Boat Races features about 3,000 paddlers participating in two full days of boat racing. The professional competition is held on the Saturday and social and corporate teams race on the Sunday.
Watch paddlers syncing paddles on their 12 metre long boats that can accommodate up to 20 paddlers. The noise of the boat drums bring the power and adrenaline up for paddlers to hit the finish lines. Their beautiful boats have carved dragon’s head at the bow and a tail at the stern.The hull is painted with dragon scales and the paddles represent the claws.

Sydneysiders, are you looking for family activities this summer holidays? Head out to Cathy Freeman Park, the park opposite ANZ Stadium along Olympic Boulevard, at Sydney Olympic Park. The 2015 series of FREE Movies by the Boulevard is on again and will operate on evenings from January 3-4, January 7-11 and January 14-18.
Movies by the Boulevard showcases 11 feature films from various genres before culminating with a collection of short films rarely seen in mainstream cinema from the Short Soup International Short Film Festival. It appeals to young and old, families, and groups!
Movies will commence on the big-screen at 8.30pm each evening. A quality selection of food and beverages will be available for purchase at Cathy Freeman Park from 6.00pm on all 12 event nights. There will also be kid’s activities from 5pm on selected nights.
Movie-goers will also find a great range of cafés, bars and restaurants across Sydney Olympic Park and unlike some other cinema events, Movies by the Boulevard attendees are welcome to take a packed picnic as well as cushions, rugs or low chairs.
Movies by the Boulevard has entertained hundreds of thousands of Sydneysiders since its inaugural season and more than 30,000 people are expected to attend the 2015 season.

The Hunter Valley Christmas Light Spectacular at Hunter Valley Gardens is a must see destination this holiday season. Sydney was again on spotlight throwing a very spectacular Sydney New Years Eve 2015 fireworks display! It was reported that a crowd records with more than 1.6 million people watched New Year’s Eve fireworks display at the Sydney Harbour.The Sydney fireworks cost more than $7 million. The event was telecast around the world with more than a billion people watching the city welcome 2015.
The main event at midnight was a sea of colours with silver umbrellas with crackling centres and gold palms with tips.
