Family Funday Sunday – $2.50 per person train, bus and ferry

Every Sunday is Family Fun Day here in Sydney, Australia. Families are given a special treat in going around the city and the nearby region of New South Wales with a Family Funday Sunday ticket. For a flat fare of $2.50 per person, a family can go to Bondi Beach, Manly, Wollongong, Kiama, Cronulla, and other beaches. One can practically go around and find a Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish, or Australian lunch in Sydney’s Suburban restaurants. If you love nature, a family can go to the Blue Mountains for bushwalking, or or simply hop-in and out in as many places within Sydney.

Of course there is a catch, the travelling group must be related by family and include at least one child and one adult. The tickets cover all-day travel on a Sunday around metropolitan and outer metropolitan Sydney, including Newcastle and Wollongong.

The ticket also applies to private bus operators in the Sydney metropolitan area, travel on the CityRail network, State Transit buses and Sydney and Newcastle ferries.

Altiyan Childs Sings the Winners Song "Somewhere In The World" at The X factor Australia Final 2010

Again huge congratulations to Altiyan Childs for winning The X Factor last night. I can help but to keep listening to his version of the winner’s song, “Somewhere In The World.”  I tried to listen to the song attentively and scribble the lyrics. It was so good and it carries a wonderful message! What a lovely song. Altiyan Child’s voice has a bit of Bon Jovi type and I personally like Bon Jovi.

Somewhere in the world tonight
– there’s no fighting
– someone’s falling in love in the first time
– there’s no crying
– someone’s holding her first child
– there’s no indifference
– everyone has a voice!
– everything’s alright!

I believe there is a place, where fears finally waving goodbye…
I believe there is a place, where the truth can wash all of the lies…
I believe there is a place, where the poor and rich can walk side by side…

Take Me there! Take Me there!

Will PM Julia Gillard's Atheist Stand Affect Voters In This Years Australia's Federal Election?

“I grew up in the Christian church, a Christian background. I won prizes for catechism, for being able to remember Bible verses. I am steeped in that tradition, but I’ve made decisions in my adult life about my own views. “I’m worried about the national interest. About doing the right thing by Australians. And I’ll allow people to form their own views about whatever is going to drive their views. “What I can say to Australians broadly of course is I believe you can be a person of strong principle and values from a variety of perspectives.”
Julia Gillard

“I am not going to pretend a faith I don’t feel”
Julia Gillard
This year’s Federal Election will reveal how Australians react on Julia Gillard straight answer about her faith — an atheist. (Sorry, is there an atheist faith?) I’ve been watching Julia in a lot of press conferences and she openly declare that she believes in “climate change” but she doesn’t believe in God.
She mentioned that she grew up in Christian Church (Baptist) and that only proves that a person will not be known as a christian by merely going to church, reading the Bible, or fulfilling religious obligations. It’s like going to McDonald’s which does not qualify one to be a McDonalds burger fanatic. Worst, if you just rely on your feelings.

Sydney Signs : A New World of Shine is Here!

“A new world of shine is here!” This is the message of this giant billboard that replaces the other billboard I featured on Sydney Affairs last April. You can view the previous billboard here.  This sign is along the train bridge just at  the stop light along Rockwood Road corner Amy Street, Regents Park, Sydney, Australia

I wonder if this will a great campaign slogan for the Labour Party or Liberal-National Coalition? Maybe, it’s closer the the latter because the color is blue!

Photo of  Tony Abbott from his Campaign Ad

Saturday, August 21, 2010 is Australia’s Federal election for 2010.  Prime Minister Julia Gillard called the 2010 Federal Election during a press conference at Parliament House last July 17, 2010. As of this writing, busy campaigns are underway for both Julia Gillard Labor government and the Opposition led by Tony Abbott who was elected Leader of the Liberal Party in December 2009.

Getting to know the position of government leaders, especially for the position of Australia’s Prime Minister, on controversial issues is really important for every Australian voters out there to be aware of before casting his/her vote on the political party who will lead Australia in the next term.
Here’s Tony Abbott’s position on homosexuality and gay marriage taken on ABC’s Q & A  TV Show . He is quite frank and straight to say that he is against same-marriage.

This is Bondi Beach, a popular home of the world’s greatest surfers. Well, I just learn today. It was born in Bondi Beach November last year! And this is the Video. Over 200 people joined in synchronous dance on their towels to the music of Australian music icon Ben Lee in a perfectly choreographed routine that amazed onlookers. You gonna love this video. It’s really cool. It started with one young boy in red trunk who walked through the crowded beach of sunbathers and surfers. He turned on his boombox and he began to dance! Onlookers enjoyed his dance moves and suddenly he was followed by other beachgoers joined in began surfing on their towels!

Kevin Rudd Speech Standing Down as Prime Minister of Australia

I was elected by the people of this country to bring back a fair go for all Australians and I have given my absolute best to do that. I’ve given it my absolute all. In that spirit I am proud of the achievements that we have delivered to make this country fairer. I’m proud of the fact that we kept Australia out of the global economic recession. I’m proud of the fact that had we not done so we would have had a half a million Australians out there out of work, because that’s what happened around the rest of the world.” – Kevin Rudd
This speech of  Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is one of the most emotional speech I’ve ever seen. I really admire this man. While he must have done unpopular decisions for the Labour Party that basically dumped him on his first term, they should not have forgotten his landmark victory that led Labour’s historic victory of so many years of John Howard government.
I love how his family supported him on this difficult yet liberating situation of his political career.
