Premier Gladys Berejiklian Says Schools in NSW Will Remain Open

“Schools in NSW from tomorrow will remain open, the health advice has not changed. However, for practical reasons, in NSW we’ll be encouraging parents to keep children at home.” – Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

  • NSW recorded an increase of 136 novel coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the state’s total count to 669.
  • The NSW school term ends on Thursday April 9, the day before Good Friday.
  • NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said schools will move to an online learning model.
  • Schools will remain open for the rest of the school term unless health advice changes as Premier Berejiklian announced.

Just an update on the 6.3 Magnitude Earthquake that hit Christchurch, here are the statistics that I read on the latest news article of the New Zealand Herald.

76 confirmed dead
238 reported missing
164 patients had been admitted as “seriously injured 80 per cent of the city without reticulated water 40 per cent of the city without power
$16 billion JP Morgan damage estimate
1000 number of rescuers by this weekend
40 police cordons in the city
1464 New Zealand Defense Force personnel directly supporting the operation
431 people had gone through the Emergency Department 20 people are thought to remain in the pancaked PGC building

Oprah Winfrey will be in Sydney today. She’s famously known as the Queen of American Television and one of the most famous personality in the world and in fact, she is No. 45 of the 2009 Most Powerful People listed by  the influential Forbes Magazine. Oprah is a household name in the US.

A flash report mentioned that Oprah is attending a private cocktail party at the Royal Botanic Gardens tonight to be attended by  several guests including New South Wales Premier Kristina Keneally
  
The Australian Government has welcomed over 300 audience members from the Oprah Winfrey Show who arrived in Sydney on December 7, 2010 to commence their Ultimate Australian Adventure.

Oprah will film two episodes of her famous Oprah show at the Sydney Opera House. These two episodes will go to air in Australia and the US in January 2011.
