Stay Conveniently in Your Canberra Trip at Rydges Capital Hill Hotel Canberra

Canberra is a planned metropolis that architect Walter Burley Griffin envisioned as a garden city for some 25,000 people. Canberra is currently home to about 300,000 people. However, due to the unique sprawled and de-centralised design, the city maintains its small-town atmosphere.

As well as being home to some of the country’s most significant monuments and museums, Canberra’s unique attractions include the annual ‘Celebration of Spring’ flower festival Floriade, in which more than a million blooms go into the show. As well as the stunning exhibits, there are also horticultural workshops, music, local artistry, and events that include the spectacular Floriade NightFest. The stunning man-made lakes, hot air balloon displays, local wineries, fine dining, natural wildlife, and blossoming nightlife all contribute to Canberra’s bush-city charm.

The Hotel: Rydges Capital Hill Hotel Canberra

The Rydges Capital Hill Hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Canberra, within a walking distance of the Parliament House, National Gallery of Australia, National Portrait Gallery, and many restaurants and bars, that will satisfy any craving. But there’s no need to leave the hotel to grab a bite or a drink—the Figtree Restaurant serves small plates, burgers, and steaks, while the Capital & Co Bar hosts happy hours Monday to Friday 5pm–7pm. The hotel’s indoor pool and gymnasium will ensure that guest can maintain their fitness routine, even on a holiday.

Experience Uluru Camel Express, Sunrise, or Sunset Tours!

Uluru Camel Express, Sunrise, or Sunset Tours
Gaze at UNESCO World Heritage-protected Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) in the distance as you roam the central Australian desert on a camel with your guide. Listen carefully as a cameleer shares interesting details about the Australian outback and your hump-backed travel companions.

Camels are ideally suited to the hot, dry climate of Australia’s interior. Imported here in the 19th century, they remained the principal means of outback transport until railways and roads were established. Today there are an estimated 200,000 one-humped, dromedary camels in the wild. Though few camels are used by humans today, this herd is treated like family, each one has its own pet name and personality. With a breathtaking view of Uluru as your backdrop, this relaxed, slow-paced camel ride is the perfect way to experience the fascinating ecology of the desert.

Choose from sunrise, sunset or express camel rides against the backdrop of Ayers Rock (Uluru) and Kata Tjuta. Watch the desert come to life in the early morning, or choose a later ride to see the changing colors of Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta at dusk. If you’re short on time, take a morning or afternoon express camel ride for a taste of central Australia’s traditional transport. Along the way, your expert cameleer provides information about the desert’s wildlife and ecology, and shares their passion and respect for camels, the ‘ships of the desert,’ which played a vital role in opening up central Australia’s remote outback regions.
